Big-event Melges 24 racing is a magnet for the active sailing media as well as the international sporting press.  The boat, and many of its racers, are exceedingly photogenic, and its position as the premier grand-prix Class for small boat racing ensures that event photos, videos, and written reports are eagerly read by millions of sailing enthusiasts around the world.  Some of the world's biggest racing teams are represented at a Melges 24 Worlds, and dozens of nations send teams to compete for this ultimate prize.  Many teams even bring   their own press officers and photographers as part of the crew to update the teams' websites, and to guarantee plenty of media exposure for the teams and their sponsors.

In October 2009, more than 75 journalists and photographers will descend on Annapolis for the 2009 Worlds.  At least two independent real-time video webcasts of the action will beam from the race course, while at least three professional video producers create high-quality video imagery at the end of each day.  In short, for a week in October, the Melges 24 Worlds will inundate the world's sailing media with exciting imagery, powerful video, and gripping stories.  The world will be watching.
